Callie Mimms
I am a Neuroscience and Biochemistry major at the University of Texas at San Antonio and will be graduating in Fall 2026. I plan to take the MCAT in September 2026 and expect to attend medical school either in San Antonio or at UT Southwestern in Dallas beginning Spring 2027.
Outside the classroom, you can often find me at the UT Health Science Center shadowing Dr. Matthew Sideman in the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Department. While I enjoy my time in vascular surgery, my true passion is neurosurgery, and I’m actively preparing for a future career in that field.
On weekends, I volunteer with Bexar County Harm Reduction, serving individuals in our community who are most in need. This work allows me to provide non-judgmental, compassionate support and help people access vital medical resources.
I also work as a Teaching Assistant in the UTSA Chemistry Department for General Chemistry courses serving science majors, non-science majors, and Honors students. Through this experience, I’ve discovered how rewarding it is to help students who are struggling—guiding them step-by-step and watching them gain confidence in subjects they once found difficult.
